Despite the challenges, Haberman and Swan managed to gain insights into the inner workings of the White House, including information from the Situation Room. Their efforts aimed to provide a comprehensive account of Donald Trump's potential second term, forming the basis of their much-anticipated book.
The 'Lockbox' of Health Information
However, the authors noted a particular area where their reporting encountered a formidable barrier: former President Trump's health. Haberman explained that Trump has historically been very private about his health, viewing illness as a sign of weakness. She stated, "His health has always been a very specific lockbox for him, going back decades." This perspective, she added, is well understood by his advisors, who are acutely aware of his sensitivity regarding any perceived vulnerabilities.
