Large Warehouse Engulfed in Flames
A substantial fire erupted on Wednesday at a 500,000-square-foot cold storage and freezing warehouse in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles. The incident, which involved the facility's solar panel-covered roof, resulted in dense plumes of dark smoke and ammonia being released into the atmosphere.
Emergency Response and Public Safety
In response to the hazardous conditions, Los Angeles city officials issued a shelter-in-place directive for residents in the immediate vicinity. Approximately 110 firefighters were dispatched to the scene in the afternoon to combat the blaze at the Lineage-owned property. Jennifer Middleton, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, confirmed the deployment of both city and county firefighting personnel, along with specialized hazardous materials teams, to manage and contain the incident.
