Royal Residence Offered to Sussex Family
Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have reportedly received an offer of a royal residence for their stay in the United Kingdom next month. This visit will mark the first time their children, seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet, have accompanied them to the UK in four years.
While the specific royal estate offered for their accommodation has not been disclosed, it is understood that the family has yet to formally respond to the invitation. Previously, Prince Harry has opted against staying at Buckingham Palace during his visits, citing security concerns related to the high-profile nature of the building.
Upcoming UK Engagements and Family Dynamics
Prince Harry is scheduled to attend several events in the UK next month to commemorate the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans. The next iteration of the Games is set to be held in Birmingham in July of the following year.
The upcoming trip also brings potential for renewed family interaction. Prince Harry has previously expressed a desire for "reconciliation" with the Royal Family. The King last saw his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. While Prince Harry met with his father, King Charles III, at Clarence House in September of last year, it was their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024.
Security Arrangements and Palace Stance
The details surrounding the family's security arrangements for this visit remain unconfirmed. It is understood that Buckingham Palace has not extended any additional security provisions. Any further security measures would typically fall under the purview of the Home Office.
Buckingham Palace has chosen not to comment on the possibility of a meeting between the King and his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, characterizing it as a private family matter.
