Lebanon's state news agency characterized Thursday's overnight bombardment across the Nabatieh district as among the most intense of the conflict, leading to at least 18 deaths, 33 injuries, and damage to several structures. Hezbollah, in response, claimed to have ambushed an Israeli unit in southern Lebanon, alleging the destruction of three tanks with guided missiles and targeting troops with rocket and artillery fire.
Lebanon became involved in the broader conflict following Hezbollah's rocket attacks into Israel, which were launched in retaliation for a strike that killed Iran's supreme leader.
