EU Citizens Favor UK Rejoining Bloc, Post-Brexit Survey Reveals

Widespread Support for UK Re-entry

A new survey conducted by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) indicates significant backing among European Union citizens for the United Kingdom to rejoin the bloc. The polling, which surveyed individuals across 15 EU countries, found that 66% of respondents viewed UK membership as a good, very good, or neutral prospect. This sentiment persists even among voters of far-right and Eurosceptic political parties, who also expressed a desire for closer relations between the UK and the EU.

Shifting UK Perspectives on Brexit

The survey, conducted ten years after the Brexit referendum, also highlights a notable shift in public opinion within the UK. A majority of British voters now believe that Brexit has had a negative impact on issues important to them. Consequently, there is a growing desire among UK citizens for closer ties with the EU, including a willingness to consider increased integration on matters such as free movement, which were previously contentious.
