A federal judge has ruled to quash subpoenas issued by the US federal government to several prominent Minnesota leaders. These subpoenas were part of an immigration enforcement initiative during the Trump administration earlier this year, which targeted the state.

Officials Targeted in January

The US Department of Justice had issued subpoenas in January to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and various other local officials within the Twin Cities area. The judge determined that these subpoenas were "issued for unlawful reasons," leading to their dismissal.
