Labour's EU Approach Deemed Insufficient by Former Ambassador
Ivan Rogers, who served as Britain's ambassador to the European Union from 2013 to 2017, has voiced his assessment that the Labour party assumed power without a significant, overarching strategy for its future engagement with the EU.
Manifesto Criticized for Lack of Substance
According to Rogers, the proposals put forth by Labour regarding the EU in its manifesto were merely "a ragbag of issues." He further commented that these ideas did not "remotely measure up to the challenge of the times" and would ultimately "make no measurable difference to the UK macroeconomy."
