UK Bar Standards Board Takes Action Against ICC Prosecutor
Karim Khan, who serves as the prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC), has been barred from practicing as a barrister within England and Wales. This decision was made by the Bar Standards Board (BSB), the regulatory body for barristers in the region.
Concurrent Suspensions Follow Misconduct Allegations
The BSB's action closely follows Khan's own suspension from his role as the chief prosecutor of the ICC. That suspension, which occurred less than two weeks prior, initiated a disciplinary process in response to allegations of sexual misconduct. Khan has consistently refuted these accusations.
This dual suspension means that Khan is currently unable to fulfill his duties as the ICC's top prosecutor and is also prohibited from practicing law as a barrister in England and Wales.
