Reflecting Pool Requires Attention Ahead of 250th Anniversary
The iconic Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington D.C. is likely to undergo draining for repairs, as indicated by former President Donald Trump. This decision comes after recent renovation efforts, intended for America's upcoming 250th-anniversary celebrations, have been compromised by visible algae blooms and peeling paint.
Renovation Challenges and Proposed Solution
The pool, which underwent a $14.2 million renovation, has experienced significant issues post-completion. These problems have raised concerns, particularly with the nation's milestone anniversary approaching next month.
In a late Saturday post on Truth Social, Trump communicated that discussions with pool contractors led to the conclusion that they would "probably be forced to release and drain much of the water in order to do the necessary repairs." He added that these repairs would be completed "as quickly as possible." Trump attributed the issues to "disgraceful Vandalism."
