Bear Encounter Leads to Teen's Injury
A teenager sustained injuries during an encounter with a black bear in a mountainous recreation area near Seattle on Tuesday. Following the incident, authorities closed the trail where it occurred.

The event unfolded around 12:45 pm on Tuesday when a group of three basketball players from Thomas Jefferson High School were hiking approximately 2.7 miles (4.4 km) up the Mount Si trail. This trail is located within the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area, an expansive region featuring four mountain peaks situated about 35 miles southeast of Seattle.
The group reportedly came across a mother bear and her cubs. The mother bear subsequently charged the hikers, making contact with one of the teenagers.
