Venice Explores Higher Entry Fees for Day Visitors
Venice's recently elected mayor, Simone Venturini, has put forward a proposal to substantially increase the city's controversial entrance fee for day-trippers. The suggested hike could see the fee reach up to €50 (£43).
Addressing Tourist Congestion
Venturini, who previously served as the city's tourism councillor before his election in late May, stated that the primary objective of this proposed increase is to deter visitors during times when the city experiences significant tourist pressure. This measure is intended to help manage the flow of visitors to the historic lagoon city, particularly during its busiest periods.
