Arrest Made in Connection with Child's Injury at Crocodile Enclosure

Investigation Underway After Incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst

Authorities have apprehended a 30-year-old man from Norfolk following an incident where a three-year-old boy suffered severe injuries after reportedly ending up in a crocodile enclosure. The event took place at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a facility located near Huntingdon in Old Hurst, Cambridgeshire.

Child's Condition Stable, Police Seek Information

Cambridgeshire Police responded to a report at approximately 13:24 BST. The injured child was transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital, where his condition is now described as stable, despite the initial critical injuries. Police do not believe the arrested man and the child were acquainted.

Det Insp Verity McCann, from Cambridgeshire Police, stated: "At this stage we are speaking to people who were at the zoo at the time of this distressing incident to understand more about the circumstances. We do not believe the man arrested and the child are known to each other. Officers are supporting the boy's family at hospital, and our thoughts remain with them."

Huntingdon MP Ben Obese-Jecty conveyed his concern via social media, expressing that his "thoughts were with the young victim and his family during a hugely traumatic and difficult time." He also advised the public to "refrain from speculation online" and noted his communication with senior officers involved in the critical incident.
