Bernardo Silva Joins Real Madrid on Free Transfer

Silva Reunites with Mourinho at Santiago Bernabéu

Experienced midfielder Bernardo Silva has officially signed a two-year agreement with Real Madrid, where he will play under manager Jose Mourinho. Silva, aged 31, became a free agent at the conclusion of the previous season, concluding a successful nine-year tenure with Manchester City.

High-Profile Move to Spain

Silva's transfer to Spain had been widely anticipated, with reports indicating interest from other major Spanish clubs, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. His arrival marks Real Madrid's second free transfer acquisition of the summer. Previously, defender Marc Cucurella also joined the club from Chelsea in a deal valued at £52 million.

Real Madrid concluded the last season without securing any major trophies. They finished eight points adrift of La Liga champions FC Barcelona and were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Currently, Silva is representing Portugal at the World Cup, where he is expected to play a crucial role for his national team.

Further Transfer Activity Expected

Reports suggest Real Madrid is also pursuing Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries, who is set to leave his current club. Additionally, France defender Ibrahima Konate is reportedly joining the team after departing Liverpool. In other defensive news, Antonio Rudiger recently extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2027.
