Children's Series Bluey Embraces Indigenous Language
The internationally acclaimed children's program, Bluey, is set to reach a new milestone by being translated into an Australian Indigenous language. While the show has been dubbed into 120 languages globally, this marks its inaugural translation into a First Nations language of Australia.
Yolŋu Matha Dubbing for Naidoc Week
Five selected episodes from the first and second seasons of Bluey have been re-recorded in Yolŋu Matha. This language originates from the Yolŋu people of North-east Arnhem Land. This initiative is being launched in conjunction with National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee (Naidoc) Week, a significant event celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
<A notable aspect of the project includes a founding member of the rock band King Stingray lending his voice to the character of Bandit, Bluey's father.
This move is anticipated to enhance cultural representation and provide Indigenous children with the opportunity to experience a beloved show in their native tongue, fostering language preservation and engagement.
