British Couple on Hunger Strike in Iran Reportedly Denied Medical Assistance

British Couple's Health Deteriorates Amid Hunger Strike in Iran

The family of Craig and Lindsay Foreman, a British couple held in Iran, express grave concerns over reports of denied medical care and supplies. The couple has been on a hunger strike for several weeks, protesting their prison conditions.

According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (Hrana), Lindsay Foreman has lost over 14kg and is experiencing severe health issues, including vertigo and tremors. Meanwhile, Craig Foreman has lost about 16kg, initially starting his strike when phone privileges were revoked.

In a heartfelt letter, the family urged the couple to prioritize their health, emphasizing their need for their presence and wellbeing. Essential items sent by the British Embassy, such as medication and hygiene products, have reportedly been withheld, violating a guarantee to the British ambassador.

The family has called on the UK government to urgently intervene and ensure medical access for the couple, who remain isolated from their loved ones. Lindsay's son, Joe Bennett, is actively campaigning for their release and plans to meet with MPs to discuss the situation.

The couple was detained in January 2025 while traveling in Iran, with the detention perceived as a political maneuver by Iranian authorities. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has yet to comment on the matter.
