Vocational Training Provider Alters Restructuring Plans
City & Guilds, a prominent vocational training organization, has announced a reversal of its earlier plans concerning significant job reductions and the transfer of numerous UK-based positions to Greece. This decision means that proposals for mass compulsory redundancies will no scrapped.
Background to the Proposed Changes
The initial proposal, which involved eliminating approximately 400 roles in the UK, was first brought to public attention in December. These proposed cuts were part of a broader £22 million cost-saving initiative. The restructuring efforts followed the acquisition of City & Guilds' training and awards division by PeopleCert, a Greek-owned entity, in October of the previous year.
