England Stars Enjoy Country Music, Prioritize Team Rules
England football squad members, notably captain Harry Kane and defender Dan Burn, were among those who enjoyed a performance by American country music artist Ella Langley in Independence, Missouri. However, the players had to leave the event before its conclusion to comply with their team's established curfew.
A Day Off and a Concert Outing
Following their opening World Cup match, where England secured a 4-2 victory over Croatia with Kane scoring two goals, manager Thomas Tuchel granted the team a day off on Friday. Kane, along with Burn and goalkeeper Jason Steele, utilized this free time to attend Langley's concert.
Burn shared details of the outing, noting, "We got asked to go and watch Ella Langley. I was the only person suited and booted with cowboy hat, jeans, the lot." He added that while Kane and Steele had the opportunity to meet Langley before the show, he arrived slightly later. Langley is recognized for her hit song 'Choosin' Texas', which topped US charts and reached number 12 in the UK.
Curfew Constraints and Missed Songs
Despite the enjoyment, the players' evening was cut short. "But we missed the last three songs because we had to be back for curfew, which I was a bit gutted about because those are her best ones," Burn explained. This wasn't their first attempt to see Langley perform; an earlier opportunity in West Palm Beach was also missed due to curfew conflicts.
Burn also highlighted Kane's appreciation for the genre, stating, "Harry is a big country music fan. There's a record player in the hotel and when it's the captain's pick a lot of it is country music."
Kane later shared images from the concert on Instagram, including one with Langley holding an England shirt. His post read, "Great to meet you @ellalangleymusic, thank you for having us! Amazing show, keep smashing it!"
