FCA Closes Drax Biomass Sourcing Probe
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the UK's financial regulator, has announced the closure of its investigation into Drax, a major power generation company. The inquiry, which spanned nearly ten months, centered on concerns that Drax may have made misleading statements concerning the provenance of the wood pellets utilized at its biomass power station.
No Further Action Deemed Necessary
In a statement, the FCA confirmed that it had undertaken a thorough review, examining an extensive volume of documentation. "We reviewed thousands of pages," the regulator stated, ultimately concluding that it "did not find evidence that justified any further action." This decision brings to an end a period of scrutiny for Drax regarding its biomass fuel supply chain.
