Investigation Underway After Woman's Death
A man has been taken into custody in connection with the death of a 72-year-old woman in Swadlincote. The woman was discovered with stab wounds at a residence in Linton on Sunday afternoon.
Police Respond to Incident
Derbyshire Police reported that officers were dispatched to an address on The Crest, Linton, shortly after 2:30 PM BST on Sunday. Upon arrival, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 52-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held in police custody. Authorities have confirmed that the victim's family is receiving support from specialist officers during this difficult time.

Detective Inspector Tony Owen, who is leading the investigation for the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, has appealed to the public for assistance. Police are particularly interested in obtaining any CCTV, doorbell, or dash cam footage from The Crest area, covering the period between 00:01 on Saturday and 15:00 on Sunday.
"Members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area whilst we carry out our inquiries. We are aware that this may cause some concern in the community but I would like to reassure residents that this is believed to be an isolated incident. If you have any concerns or would like to pass on any information, please feel free to approach officers."
