Multinational Construction Firms Under Scrutiny Over Equipment Use in South Lebanon

Allegations Surface Regarding Equipment Use

Human rights specialists have expressed concerns that several major international construction equipment companies could be contributing to war crimes. This follows the emergence of photographic and video evidence depicting the Israeli military utilizing their excavators and bulldozers to raze villages in southern Lebanon.

Verification of Equipment Deployment

The Guardian conducted geolocation and verification of various images, confirming that the Israeli military employed excavators manufactured by six specific companies: Caterpillar, Volvo, Hyundai, Doosan, Hitachi, and Komatsu. These machines were reportedly used to dismantle residential buildings, public infrastructure, commercial establishments, and other structures throughout the southern Lebanese region.

Israel has reportedly leveled entire villages within the 'yellow line,' a 608 sq km territory occupied by Israel along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

According to an analysis of satellite imagery conducted by Bellingcat, at least 46 villages in south Lebanon have sustained significant damage. A substantial portion of this damage is attributed to demolitions carried out after the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, which took effect on April 17.
