Investigation Underway in Derbyshire
Authorities have launched a murder investigation after a man's body was found at a summer solstice gathering. The discovery was made at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle in Stanton Lees, Derbyshire, with police responding to reports at approximately 13:38 BST on Monday.
Call for Witnesses
Derbyshire Police confirmed that the deceased is a 26-year-old man, whose identity has not yet been formally released. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. Detective Inspector Tony Owen, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, is leading the inquiry and has issued an urgent appeal for witnesses.
"I am urgently appealing for anyone who attended the summer solstice event over the weekend to please speak to officers as soon as they can," stated Det Insp Owen. "A young man's life has been taken in the most brutal way so it is vital that myself and the team build up a clear picture of the exact circumstances surrounding his death."
Owen emphasized the importance of gathering information from all attendees, regardless of how brief their presence at the event. He noted that even seemingly minor details could be crucial in understanding the events leading to the man's death and securing justice for his family.
Police are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle between Friday, June 19, and Tuesday.
