New South Wales Adjusts Road Toll Cap
New South Wales (NSW) is preparing to implement a reduction in its weekly road toll cap. The current cap of $60 will be lowered to $50, a change scheduled to remain in effect for a period of one year. This adjustment is expected to be a key feature of the state's budget announcements.
Queensland Commits to Major Infrastructure Projects
Meanwhile, Queensland is poised to reveal substantial infrastructure spending as part of its upcoming budget. The state treasurer, Janetzki, indicated a record allocation of $119.2 billion for infrastructure over the next four years. A significant portion of this funding, specifically $55.9 billion, is earmarked for enhancements to roads and public transport systems.
Among the announced changes, a planned light rail project on the Gold Coast, initially conceived under the previous Labor government, will be replaced by a bus service. Janetzki stated that the initial budget established a foundation for new beginnings, and the forthcoming budget aims to reinforce these efforts, underscoring the importance of building Queensland's future.
