Council Addresses Widespread Flag Placement
Oxfordshire County Council is pursuing legal action, specifically an injunction, against a group known as 'Raise the Colours'. This move comes in response to numerous England flags being attached to lamp-posts across the county, a campaign that has been active since August of the previous year.
Costs and Concerns Mount for Local Authority
The council has reported that it has already incurred expenses totaling £15,000 for the removal of these flags. While the 'Raise the Colours' campaign states its motivations are rooted in national pride and patriotism, the flag placements have also been associated with anti-immigration demonstrations. The area in and around Oxford has seen a particularly high concentration of these flags.
