Fatal Train Crash in Elstow Under Investigation

A recent interim report by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) suggests that the train driver who tragically died in a collision in Bedfordshire proceeded past a red signal just moments before the incident occurred. The accident, which took place on Friday, resulted in the death of 60-year-old driver Shaun Burton and left approximately 100 individuals injured.

Details Emerge from Interim Findings

The collision involved one London-bound service crashing into the rear of another near Elstow, close to Bedford, at approximately 17:15 BST on Friday. The RAIB's preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Burton's train passed a red signal in the vicinity of the crash site.

Further details regarding this ongoing investigation are expected to be released as they become available.
