Report Details Significant Expansion of ICE's Surveillance Technology

Immigration Surveillance Spending Reaches New Heights

A new analysis has brought to light a significant expansion in the surveillance capabilities employed by US immigration enforcement agencies. The report details a sharp rise in expenditures on technology and artificial intelligence (AI) tools designed to locate and monitor migrants, with spending reaching unprecedented levels during the current presidential administration.

Increased Investment in AI and Tracking Technologies

The report, released this week, focused on contracts between US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and eleven specific technology companies identified as providers of surveillance tools. The findings reveal a dramatic escalation in financial commitments to these firms.

According to the report, the funds allocated to these companies more than doubled from 2024 to 2025, reaching a total exceeding $310 million. This trend continued into 2026, when spending surged further to a record-setting $513 million.

This substantial increase underscores a growing reliance on sophisticated technological solutions to bolster immigration enforcement efforts, raising questions about the scope and implications of such widespread surveillance.
