Senators Express Concern Over Moms.gov Website Promoting Crisis Pregnancy Centers

Congressional Scrutiny of Federal Maternal Health Website

A coalition of eleven senators has formally requested that the Trump administration and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dismantle a government website, Moms.gov, and discontinue the use of federal funds to steer individuals toward facilities that oppose abortion.

Moms.gov Under Fire

Launched on Mother's Day by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Moms.gov is presented by the administration as a resource designed for 'new and expecting mothers,' offering 'guidance and information to support the health and wellbeing of mothers and their families.' However, the senators contend that the website raises 'profound' health and safety concerns, suggesting its primary function is to direct users to anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers.

The senators' letter highlights their apprehension about the nature of the resources promoted on the site, implying that it may not provide unbiased or comprehensive support for all maternal health needs. This action underscores a broader debate about the appropriate use of government resources in sensitive areas such as reproductive health.
