Competition Watchdog Imposes Fine on StubHub UK
StubHub UK, an online ticket reseller, has received a substantial fine of almost £900,000. Additionally, the company has been mandated to provide refunds to more than 50,000 customers. The penalty stems from the company's practice of not disclosing the complete price of tickets at the initial stage of booking, a method commonly referred to as “drip pricing,” which is illegal.
Investigation Targets Online Ticket Resellers
The UK's competition watchdog initiated an inquiry last year into the sales methods of eight companies, including StubHub UK and its competitor, Viagogo UK. As a result of this investigation, StubHub is now required to disburse refunds totaling over £590,000 to affected customers. The investigation into Viagogo UK's practices is reportedly still ongoing.
