Toronto Police Uncover Extensive Gun-for-Hire Operation Behind Numerous Shootings

Police Investigate Broad Criminal Network

Toronto police investigators have revealed the existence of a significant criminal network, described as 'multilayered,' which they believe is connected to numerous shooting incidents across the city. These incidents reportedly include a shooting at the US consulate in March and several attacks targeting synagogues in the greater Toronto area.

Recruitment Through Encrypted Messaging Apps

According to Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw, the network actively recruits young adults and teenagers. These individuals are reportedly enlisted by 'bad actors' through encrypted messaging platforms such as Signal, Telegram, and WhatsApp. They are then allegedly compensated by the network to execute these violent acts.

"Young adults and teenagers are being recruited through encrypted messaging apps such as Signal, Telegram and WhatsApp by ‘bad actors’ and paid by the networks to carry out the attacks," Chief Demkiw stated in a recent press briefing.

A disturbing aspect of this operation is the requirement for shooters to film their attacks. This footage serves as proof of the completed act, essential for them to receive payment for their involvement.
