Cybercriminals Face Justice for Significant Breach
Two British individuals have admitted their involvement in a substantial cyberattack targeting Transport for London (TfL) in 2024. The incident, which is estimated to have caused £39 million in damages and affected approximately 10 million individuals, saw Thalha Jubair, 20, and Owen Flowers, 18, change their pleas to guilty at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday.
Alleged Ties to Hacking Group
Jubair and Flowers are reportedly associated with the hacking collective known as Scattered Spider. Their guilty pleas were entered on what was scheduled to be the first day of a trial expected to last six weeks. Both individuals faced charges under the Computer Misuse Act.
This case highlights the growing threat of cybercrime and the significant financial and operational impact such attacks can have on critical infrastructure and public services.
