Higher Education Program Discontinued
A prominent higher education initiative, intended to ensure the continued schooling of approximately one million girls and women across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, has been terminated by the British government. This decision comes merely two years following the program's initial announcement.
Details of the SHEFE Program
Known as Strengthening Higher Education for Female Empowerment (SHEFE), the scheme was launched with considerable attention by the then-Conservative government. It was allocated a budget of £45 million, with the objective of broadening access to higher education for one million students globally. However, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has confirmed that the tender for this project has been withdrawn.
